I am committed to thoughtful, inclusive mentoring practices and regularly engage in culturally aware mentorship training. We are also studying rapid adaptation to global change using resurrection populations. Some of the current themes in the lab include understanding both the maintenance of variation in invasive plant species and the genetic basis of adaptation to strong agents of selection. Lab members and I study plant adaptation from the lens of evolutionary ecology and genetics, typically using plant weeds/invasives as models. The lab is a part of the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, MI. The start date for the postdoctoral researcher is flexible, and ideally would be summer or fall 2024 whereas the graduate student would begin the graduate program fall, 2024. The postdoctoral position would be ideal for scientists interested in using Ipomoea to ask evolutionary genetics questions in their future lab, or alternatively for scientists who would like to develop project management skills for a future in industry. The postdoc and graduate student will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with the Leebens-Mack and Parrott labs at UGA and some travel to Athens, GA, will be expected. I am recruiting both a postdoctoral researcher and a PhD student to contribute to the development of functional genomics tools in morning glories ( Ipomoea). My lab is recruiting both a postdoctoral scientist and PhD student to develop functional genomics/genetics tools for Ipomoea! And etc!
